External refurbishment, Hackney, London
A generous Victorian terrace facing Hackney Downs Park had a leaking roof to the rear and the facade repairs the Freeholder Association had undertaken over the last years were not lasting. The architectural features at the entrance and bay window were decaying. The facade was showing cracks and the bricks were damaged because of the wrong pointing being applied.
Ben Kuenzel’s experiences with High Street improvement schemes, in which he was involved in like Green Lanes and Wood Street, helped to specify, tender and deliver the restoration as well as overlook the works on site to make sure the costs stayed within the limits.
The flat roof to the rear of the property also got replaced with a new insulated roof with more fall. For these works building control approval was provided.
